The metal detector (E)

My first reaction is... ah, shit... I forgot that these guys have this big ass metal detector. New Courthouse. But I really need these forms from one of the clerks this afternoon.

Here goes...

Guard: "Please remove all metal objects and cell phone and put them in there. Wait for me to wave you through."

I empty my pockets, and put my keys, wallet, cell phone, and change into the small bin.

Me: "I'm really sorry about this, but there's a problem... my neck chain... it can't be removed."

Guard: "What?"

Me: "The chain around my neck... it can't be removed..."

Guard: "Why?"

Me: "It's locked."

Guard: "What?"

Me: "The chain... it's locked... only my wife has the key... and she's at work."

A second guard, standing at the entrance of a nearby room chatting with someone, comes over.

Guard 2: "What's going on?"

Guard 1: "He can't take off his chain."

Guard 2: "What?"

Guard 1: "He can't take off the chain around his neck."

The second guard looks at me gravely.

Guard 2: "You have to."

Me: "I can't. It's got a small padlock." I show him. "Only my wife has the key."

A third guard comes over from the same nearby room.

Guard 3: "What's the problem?"

Guard 1: "He can't take off his chain."

Guard 3: "What?"

Guard 2: "It's locked."

I show him the chain and padlock.

Guard 3: "It's locked?"

Guard 2: "It's locked."

Total silence. They look at each other. They look at me. Guard 2 looks at me pretty contemptuously.

Me: "It's a romantic thing..."

More silence.

Me: "It's very symbolic.... it makes us feel close."

Yet more silence.

Guard 1: "Go through. If it goes off, we'll use the wand."

I go through. The alarm goes off. They run the wand over me. It rings over the padlock part of the chain.

Guard 1: "St'alright. You're good."

I pick up my belongings from the basket that went through the X-Ray machine.

Me: "Thank you, gentlemen. You all have a great day."

I could feel their stares following me from behind.

Walking away, I felt part naughty, part exhibitionist. Despite the lack of disclosure, I definitely felt like my Goddess' possession. It made me feel very warm inside. I felt close to her, even if she was a few miles away at work. I felt no shame whatsoever. In a strange kind of way, instead of being embarassed, I felt proud. I belonged. I belonged to her.

  1. Wonderful. Absolutely wonderful.

  2. At least they let you through and you were able to show your submission to your Mistress.

  3. Dymion,

Thanks for sharing that, i've had similar experiences with metal detectors but i think yours beats mine hands down.

  4. Awesome story. Very very funny!

If you don't mind, I also have a courthouse security story to share. I'm a teacher. My ex-wife and I filed our divorce on the day our school called "whacky dress day" for spirit week leading up the homecoming football game. Entering the courthouse, we had to go through security. My shoes set off an alarm and the security guard asked me to pull up my pant legs so he could inspect my footwear, only to discover that I was wearing one brown shoe, one black hoe, one red sock, and one white sock.

"I don't even want to know" he said and waved me through.

    True story.

  5. I love the story, wish I had a camera filming your expressions...

  6. Your description of the courthouse scene was hilarious, and you handled it perfectly. What's more, your conclusions at the end were very touching. Thank you for a delightful post.

  7. Wow! What a wonderful surprise to see all your comments this morning!

I'm so glad you all enjoyed the little adventure that came to life when my D/s world collided with the vanilla world.

@ Burl: Thank you, and welcome to our blog!

@ Jessica: Indeed they did let me through... and it's a reminder that it's when things don't go quite right that they're most memorable. And welcome to our blog!

@ Serving B: Wearing the different colored shoes and socks could have been hot for me if it would have been part of a humiliation scene ordered by my Goddess. But I don't think I could have come up with any explanations for it...

@ Warren: As soon as I got through, I kept thinking I wished I could have had a camera to film the surreal exchanges. What?

@ Lady Grey: Thank you for your kind words. One never know where inspiration, and the reinforcement of D/s dynamics, will come from.

  8. A wonderful post. The symbolism of such an event puts the relationship you have with your wife in perspective and is incredibly powerful. Love the way you handled it. Lessons to be learned from it....a "must read" for my subbie! Thanks.

  9. Been there, done that. Had the same experience with my metal anklets at the Federal Courthouse. Needless to say, the security was equally confused when i told them they didn't come off. i was embarrassed and proud at the same time.

  10. @ Suzanne: You flatter me... but I'll take it. And if it can inspire anyone else, well, it's one of the driving purposes of our blog.

@ lb: As I walked away from the metal detector, I remembered reading your experience with your locking anklets. I thought this would be a good opportunity to add to the body of literature on BDSM lifestyles and public security measures...

Thank you both for dropping by, and for your comments.
